Outside The Wire…

When a soldier in Vietnam left a combat base like a FSB (Fire Support Base) as part of a patrol or on a CA (Combat Assault) they would be "outside the wire". What they carried in their ruck, pockets and in bandoliers would need to be enough to support them before resupply via choppers. Personal items would be kept in a 5.56 or 7.62 ammo box as these were waterproof. The rest of the equipment would be ammo, water, c-rats, batteries for the PRC-25 radio.

These are our "outside the wire" themed pictures that the group have taken over the years of living history. These feature members of past and present "No Slack" and from other re-enactment/living history groups that we have worked with over the years. Some of the shots were taken by Sean @ vietnam-baochi.com.
